OnCue is a precision stopwatch that runs in the iPhone's Dynamic Island, so you can time a rep without leaving the video you're watching.
Setting up
OnCue runs from Control Center. You add it once:
- Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center.
- Tap the + in the top-left corner.
- Tap Add a Control, search for OnCue, and select it.
- Tap the OnCue control any time to bring the timer into the Dynamic Island.
- Tap it again when you're done to put the timer away.
The app itself includes this guide with a short video showing each step.
Using the timer
Press and hold the Dynamic Island to reveal Start, Stop, Lap and Reset. Lap records a split without stopping the clock, so you can capture two phases of the same rep in one pass.
Common questions
The timer looks like it starts late.
It doesn't. OnCue records the exact moment you tap Start. The Dynamic Island can take a moment to redraw, but the recorded time is measured from your tap, not from when the display catches up — so your times stay accurate.
I can't find OnCue in the controls list.
Make sure you're searching inside Add a Control in Control Center's edit mode, not in Settings. If it still doesn't appear, restart your iPhone once after installing.
Where did my laps go?
Laps belong to a timing session. Tapping Reset clears them, and starting a fresh timer begins a new session. Your most recent session stays visible in the app.
Does OnCue work on an Apple Watch?
Not currently. OnCue is an iPhone app that uses the Dynamic Island.
